- Successful Online Critiques
What makes for a successful critique in an online class? How do online critiques differ from in-person critiques? In this practical workshop, Jesse Mangerson (Fine Art Painting) will discuss and show examples of online critiquing strategies that (1) are respectful of online students' efforts and (2) encourage them to make productive revisions to their work.
Tuesday, 2/11, 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. OR Wednesday, 2/12, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m.
- Strategies for Teaching Group Directed Study Classes (801)
Managing a group directed study class (GDS - 801) offers special challenges. In some cases, no content has been created for the class, so the instructor must come up with activities and content that will engage students for the required 3 hours a week of online time. In addition, GDS classes may have very few students, so the instructor must also find ways of working effectively with a small group. In this workshop, led by Kevin Koczela and Jenny Michael (Cyber Campus), we will clarify the requirements for teaching a GDS class and offer strategies for making these learning opportunities successful. If you have experience in teaching GDS classes, please come share your ideas and observations with us!
Thursday, 2/20, 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.
