Have questions about online teaching? Confused about how some of the online tools work? Need tips on best practices in online classes? Want to share ideas with other online instructors? Instructional Development staff host regular online workshops, where you have a chance to talk with your colleagues and get answers to your teaching questions.

Unless otherwise noted, these sessions are offered in a live web conference. Scroll down to see details on how to participate.

    What core skills and habits of mind have contributed to your success — as a student and as an artist or designer? Perseverance? Optimism? Enthusiasm? Join Jenny Michael and Kevin Koczela for a discussion of these and other foundational skills and how we might foster them in our students.

    This informal Q&A session is
    a great chance to get answers to your questions about online teaching.

Submit your questions in advance, so that we are prepared to respond to your concerns during the session.

  • Cultivating "Gritty" Students
    It takes more than talent or intelligence to succeed as learners and artists. A student’s ability to aim for and achieve long-term goals will determine his or her future. In this session, Kevin Koczela leads us through a discussion of recent research on student tenacity and learn what teachers can do to promote grit, perseverance and resilience in the classroom.

  • In addition, we would like to use video conferencing for as many people as possible. So if you have a webcam, we hope you will consider participating via video. (WARNING: Yes, this means that you will be on camera!) :)

  • Please log in 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the session, so we can address any technical issues — and so the meeting can begin on time. Thank you for your consideration!

  • If you will be connecting to the online meeting from outside the US and need a local phone number to call, please contact Maya Frenklach in advance, so she can make the necessary arrangements.
